650 Volume II: Beat Station that is.

We all know that the beat is where it’s. The beat is what makes the head nod. The beat is what makes the booty jiggle. The beat is what makes the difference of how you feel when you first walk into a club.

Beats are everywhere. Rza takes beats from kung-fu movies. DJ Quik scours Bollywood. DJDJ makes beats from Taipei taxi noises. Fruity Loops can make anyone a beat genius. And wherever there is a noise, a beat can be made. Biz Markie and The Fat Boys proved you didn't need thousands of dollars in equipment to make a beat when they started beat boxing. Razel and Scratch from the Roots have taken this art to a whole new level.

So wherever you are. Whatever you are doing. Listen for that beat. It can be the dripping of the air conditioner hitting the floor. It can be the squeaky brakes on the bus pulling up next to you on the road. It can be the wind rustling through the leaves while you are relaxing on the porch.
